Your Verus Vita – Performing Well... But Not Sustainably?

Hi Reader,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a chance to rest over the holidays. Though, if you're like most of the executives I talk to, "rest" probably meant catching up on email and planning for Q1.

I've been thinking a lot about what I'm seeing with my clients and in conversations with leaders I respect: people are hitting their goals and leading well. From the outside, everything looks great. But internally? They're exhausted in a way that doesn't show up in performance metrics.

That disconnect, between external success and internal depletion, is what I've started calling Strategic Unsustainability. And I think it's worth naming because once you see it, you can actually do something about it.

Below, I'm sharing a quick assessment I use with clients to help identify where they might be running on fumes without realizing it. Whatever your answers reveal, I hope it helps you start the year with more intention.

Be well,

--Krista

Strategic Unsustainability Assessment

Take a minute and answer these honestly:

Strategic Clarity
Do you know where you're going?

  • Are you clear on your top 3 priorities, or are you reacting to whatever's loudest?
  • Do your daily actions align with your stated goals?
  • When was the last time you said "no" to something because it wasn't essential?

Operational Rhythm
Is your pace sustainable?

  • Are you ending most days feeling accomplished, or exhausted?
  • Do you have protected time for strategic thinking?
  • Is your calendar driving you, or are you driving your calendar?

Leadership Presence
Are you showing up as your best self?

  • Are you leading from intention, or managing from reaction?
  • Do you have energy for the relationships that matter, or are you moving from interaction with interaction?
  • When you think about next quarter, do you feel energized or are you dreading it?

What To Do With Your Answers

If more than 2 of these hit home, you're likely dealing with strategic unsustainability: you're performing well externally while running on fumes internally. The good news? This is fixable, and often clarity can be found faster than you think.

I'm actively working with executives on exactly this through my Executive Strategy & Clarity Intensive: 6 weeks to recalibrate how you achieve results so you can actually sustain them. We'll identify what's working, what needs adjustment, and what you need to abandon entirely.

If this resonates and you want to explore whether the intensive might be right for you, book a 30-minute discovery call. And if this sounds like someone in your network, feel free to forward this along.
